Passover
The major Jewish spring festival which commemorates the liberation of the Israelites from Egyptian slavery, lasting seven or eight days from the 15th day of Nisan. The Passover itself represents the protection God gave the Israelites from the destroying angel who brought judgement on the Egyptians, who at that time refused to acknowledge or obey Him. All the Israelites applied the blood of a sacrificial lamb to their door frames. The destroying angel passed over the Israelite’s home and they were saved from God’s divine judgement.

Similarly, Jesus Christ is the sacrificial “lamb” who gave His life for the sins of the world. Whoever accepts His sacrifice has His “blood” applied to their heart (not literally but referring to the blood shed during Jesus’ death on the cross) for Divine protection from God’s judgement against sin. The cross is representative of the door to heaven because Jesus made it possible for all of humanity to go there. This is a universal truth and is applicable to all.
